Cryptocurrency exchange Chainxspace commented on earlier reports that some of its users had to change passwords due to alleged data leaks. According to the latest notification, about 1% of users received letters from the exchange.

“To confirm: there was no data leak coming from Chainxspace, and our actions were a quick response to an external threat,” the company writes.

It also reports that it reset the passwords of at-risk users because many of them use the same data across services.

“We can now confirm that neither the list circulating online nor the information contained therein was taken from Chainxspace. For those interested in our security protocols, we do not store passwords in plain text, but as secure bcrypt hashes,” Chainxspace writes.
